GNTC’s John Kenyon receives Silver Medallion Award for college promotional video

John Kenyon, assistant director of Marketing and Public Relations at GNTC, received the Silver Medallion Award from District 2 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) in the Promotional Video-Long Form category.

The award was presented to Kenyon, a resident of Rome, at the recent NCMPR District 2 Annual Conference in Virginia Beach. Kenyon was cited for his role as producer, videographer, and video editor for GNTC’s EMPOWER video.

“We are incredibly proud of John and this well-deserved recognition,” said Dr. Heidi Popham, GNTC president. “This award is a testament to John’s creativity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence. His ability to tell our students’ stories in a powerful and meaningful way makes him an invaluable asset to Georgia Northwestern Technical College.”

The EMPOWER video features four past and present GNTC students who share their stories and describe how GNTC and the GNTC Foundation “empowered” them to overcome barriers and find success.

Lauretta Hannon, executive director of Institutional Advancement at GNTC, selected the students that were featured in the video and served as the off-camera interviewer during the video shoot.

The award is Kenyon’s sixth Medallion award since joining GNTC in 2010. Prior to GNTC, Kenyon was a videographer and news writer for Western Carolina University, where he received five awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District 3.

Kenyon also has additional experience in the news, broadcast and post-production industries in the Charlotte, NC, area including; Televisuals, WSOC-TV, Creative Sports/ESPN, Cable AdNet, and as a freelancer.
