Two People Arrested in Statesboro for Animal Cruelty, Facing Felony Charges

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a house at Sunnyview Court in Statesboro in relation to an animal cruelty investigation. Debra Jo Green and Kenneth Mark Berrin were arrested and face felony charges for cruelty to animals. Both remain in the Bulloch County Jail with further court proceedings to follow. Several agencies have assisted with the case.

This morning at approximately 800am the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division executed a Search Warrant at the address of 1713 Sunnyview Court, Statesboro, Ga. (Bulloch County, Ga) The search warrant was executed in relation to an investigation of CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. Located at the residence was DEBRA JO GREEN and KENNETH MARK BERRIN. Ms Green and Mr Berrin are currently facing criminal charges of Felony, CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. The number of charges that Ms Green and Mr Berrin will face will be determined after consultation with the District Attorney’s Office of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. Ms Green and Mr Berrin are currently being held in the Bulloch County Jail with further court proceedings to follow. Sheriff Brown would like to express his appreciation to the agencies and individuals that have assisted with this case in providing examinations, medical care and continued housing and sustenance for these animals, to include the ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY, BULLOCH COUNTY HUMANE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION, BULLOCH COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH COASTAL GEORGIA, GATEWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL, and a special thanks to Dr. Gary Edwards and Dr. Debbie Edwards for their professional assistance in volunteering their time and expertise in the examination and evaluation of several of the confiscated animals.
