Governor Brian Kemp has issued an executive order appointing a special committee to investigate alleged misconduct by Towns County Sheriff Kenneth Henderson. The order, dated September 19, 2025, follows a request from the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, which reported concerns that Henderson is not fulfilling his duties. Under state law, the Governor has the authority to create an investigative panel when allegations are made against a sheriff. The committee includes Attorney General Christopher Carr, Sheriff Lenn Wood of Coweta County, and Sheriff Ezell Brown of Newton County. They are required to submit their findings to the Governor within 30 days.
