Chattooga Marching Indian Band Wins Several Awards

By Carla Love

The Chattooga Marching Indian Band travelled to Armuchee High School Saturday, September 28, to compete in the Armuchee Invitational. Rain or shine, band competitions are a October staple. Saturday, it was more rain than shine but this challenge didn’t mean that the Marching Indians wouldn’t rise to the challenge. They took the competition field and performed Journey of Love for audience members in attendance.

By the time the University of West Georgia wrapped up their performance and a following encore, the Chattooga Band walked away with their first awards of the 2024 marching season: Spirit Pop Award, Legacy Award in honor of former Armuchee Band director, Seth Bates, Drum Major 1st place and Band 2nd place out of five in Division A.

This week is fall break for Chattooga Schools and while many are home resting or on vacation, the Indian Band will be busy with a Monday and Thursday night practice on Buddy Windle Field preparing for their trip to Friday night’s game at Fannin County and then they journey to Winfield Alabama for their 2nd competition at the 18th annual Pirate Classic held at Winfield High School.
