Bulloch County deputies, canine units, and a drone were used in the search to locate him. Statesboro Police Dept, Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division also assisted. The inmate, Caleb Scott, was located and transported back to the Bulloch County Jail, then transferred to the Department of Corrections. He will be charged with felony escape.

From BCSO:

On August 21st at approximately 2:20 p.m. an inmate escaped from custody while being transferred from the Judicial Annex back to the Bulloch County Jail. Inmate Caleb Scott was able to push past the deputy while being loaded onto a transport van. The deputy was unable to pursue due to the fact he also had two other inmates in custody. Patrol deputies and canine units immediately surrounded the area. A drone was deployed within a few minutes of the escape. Once a secure perimeter was established deputies began a search of the area and located the suspect near Truist Bank, a short distance from the Judicial Annex. Scott was still in restraints when he was located. He was transported back to the Bulloch County Jail and then transferred to the Department of Corrections. Scott will be charged with felony escape.

Sheriff Brown would like to thank the Statesboro Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division for their assistance in the speedy capture of the escaped inmate from the Bulloch County Courthouse, as well as the swift response from our deputies. Your dedication and teamwork are greatly appreciated.
