Zayden Cook: State Champion

Chattooga High School junior Zayden Cook competed in the state track meet this past Saturday. Cook is the 1A-1 State Champion in the 110m hurdles.

How many years have you been running track? Three years (but I was injured my first year, so I only participated 2 years 10th & 11th)

What other sports do you participate in? Football, wrestling, soccer, and track.

GPA- 3.8

Favorite class?

Computer science

Favorite teacher?

Mrs. Ratliff

In ten years, where do you see yourself?

Pursuing a career in the computer science field.

Who is your Role model, and why?

My role model is my Mom because she keeps me motivated and always encourages me to keep going no matter what obstacles we face.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned from your coach?

My coach has taught me to just believe in myself.

Describe your track event?

110m hurdles ( I have to run 110m and jump
10 hurdles.

Tell us how it feels to be a state champion.

I was excited to win but at the same time I always want to keep improving.

Coach Bradley Ward said, “Zayden is one of those athletes that is driven to work hard and compete. He shows up ready to work and focused on getting better. I am extremely proud of his determination to push for a top spot in the 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles, and it all paid off. He went undefeated all season in the 110 Hurdles, and earned the title State Champion. He is an exceptional young man, and I cannot wait to see what his senior year and future holds for him.”

Libby Ann Veatch is a talented and passionate senior at Chattooga High School who worked with the Indian Lore for three years. She is a member of the Lady Indian Softball team, Attack Fast Pitch, and FCCLA. After high school Libby Ann plans to go to cosmetology school and become a hair stylist.
