Three Ogeechee Technical College students are currently in Germany until May 18 as part of an exchange program with Leopold-Hoesch Berufskolleg, a vocational college in Dortmund.
Daniel Maulden and Bryce Costlow, Automotive Technology students, and Jacob Flannery, a Manufacturing Engineering Technology student, will gain valuable experience studying and shadowing in industries in the Dortmund community.
On Tuesday, April 30, the students had the opportunities to visit the industries where they will be observing their German career counter parts at work. Maulden and Costlow are shadowing at BMW, while Flannery will be shadowing at Vitesco Technologies, a manufacturing facility specializing in electrification technologies for all types of vehicles.
“Our students are excited to begin their job shadowing experiences here in Dortmund,” said Matthew Gainous, an OTC English instructor who will be travelling with the students for a week and helping instruct English at the college. “The facilities the students are shadowing in are top-notch and they’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the global reach of their career fields and about German culture.”
