Atlanta Braves to Host Fourth Annual Ralph Garr-Bill Lucas HBCU Baseball Classic, March 1-2

The Atlanta Braves will host their fourth annual weekend series between two historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) baseball programs, the Ralph Garr-Bill Lucas HBCU Baseball Classic. The two-game series will be played at Coolray Field, home of the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers, March 1-2. Grambling State University will take on Florida A&M University, the alma maters of Braves Hall of Famers, Ralph Garr and Bill Lucas.

Designed to highlight baseball programs at historically black colleges and universities in the Southeast, the showcase provides an opportunity to expose student-athletes, support staff, and coaches to a Major League setting. Florida A&M took two of the three game series vs Grambling State University in 2023. The inaugural series took place in March 2021.

The Braves will honor Ralph Garr and Bill Lucas’s legacy with an on-field presentation Friday, March 1. Throughout the weekend, fans are also invited to create their own baseball card in the “Pose at the Plate” activation, enjoy music from local Atlanta DJs, and more.

First pitch is slated for 5 pm on Friday, March 1, followed by game two on Saturday, March 2 starting at 12 pm. Tickets are available online for $15 and suites are available starting at $500.
