Man Arrested in Statesboro Saturday for Carjacking Incidents

Enrico Mikell was arrested Saturday morning after two carjacking incidents. The first, at a Sunoco Station on Old Register Road, where the victim was injured after confronting Mikell, and the second on Bird Lane. Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly located Mikell and arrested him. He has been charged with Hijacking a Motor Vehicle, as well as other charges.

On Saturday, March 4th at around 9:00 a.m., Deputies responded to the Sunoco Station located at 2301 Old Register Road in reference to a carjacking incident which had just occurred. Upon arrival Deputies learned that the victim was in the store and realized his vehicle was being stolen. The victim went back out into the parking lot and confronted the offender, resulting in a physical confrontation. The victim was injured when the offender sped off in his vehicle knocking him to the pavement. The initial responding Deputy immediately broadcasted a description of the stolen vehicle, which was located abandoned at the Zip-N-Foods on Lanier Drive. While Deputies were recovering the vehicle at Zip-N they learned of another attempted carjacking incident on Bird Lane near an apartment building. Deputies responded to the area and located the offender, identified as Enrico Mikell. Mikell was arrested and charged with Hijacking a Motor Vehicle among other charges. Sheriff Brown stated he was thankful this offender was located and arrested in such a short period of time. He also thanks the Statesboro Police Department for their assistance in apprehending this violent suspect. Sheriff Brown noted that the suspect was located within minutes of the initial report being filed.
