SPD: Aspen Heights incident is possible murder-suicide attempt

The Statesboro Police Department responded Sunday evening to an apartment in the Aspen Heights community on Highway 67 for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers found two persons, both of whom had been shot.

Antonio Sanchez, a black 23 year-old male, was pronounced dead on the scene. Allison Fleet, also 23, was transported to Memorial Health in Savannah.

Monday morning, the Statesboro Police Department released the following information:

The preliminary investigation leads us to suspect this case is a possible Attempted Murder / Suicide. It is not believed that any other parties are involved in this incident at the present time. However, the case is still under active investigation.

The Statesboro Police Department would like to thank all of the Public Safety Agencies that responded to the scene to assist with this investigation. Those agencies are Bulloch County Sheriffs Office, Georgia Southern University Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Bulloch County EMS, and Air Evac.

No further information is being released at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
