City of Statesboro Developing Master Plan for Downtown & the Blue Mile

The City of Statesboro is developing a Master Plan for the future of Downtown Statesboro and the Blue Mile.

The city says the plan will consider ways to attract new businesses and residents, as well as new developments. The plan will also aim to improve parking and greenspaces, all ultimately creating “a true gathering place for the heart of our community”.

A Community Workshop will take place on Tuesday, June 8 at 6: 30 p.m., at the Statesboro Public Library, located at 124 South Main. A presentation will be given to show the Master Plan’s process. Everyone is invited to attend and share thoughts on the future of downtown.

As soon as the draft of the Master Plan is completed, a copy will be available for viewing on the city’s website.

I had thought that a traffic circle would be very nice at the intersection where Fair Road converges with Main St. Then someone told me it was actually in the plan. I hope this is definitely in the plans as would be a wonderful addition for congestion and would be so attractive and help avoid accidents.
