McDonald’s to host change day Friday

Friday, June 7th plan to stop by and donate some extra change to Ronald McDonald House charities at the Summerville McDonald’s.

The local McDonald’s restaurant in Summerville will have “Change Day” Friday, June 7th.  The local restaurant is asking people to donate their change (or some extra money) from 7-10:30 a.m. during the breakfast rush to encourage customers to let their small change make a big difference to support the Ronald McDonald House charities.

RMHC Day of Change is a great opportunity to show the importance of giving back; even the smallest gesture goes a long way to helping those in need.

Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support.

Currently a Chattooga County family is staying at a Ronald McDonald house in Atlanta. 6-year old Brantley Palmer had heart transplant surgery on May 9th. While Brantley has been discharged from the hospital his team of doctors need him to stay close by for monitoring. The Palmer family is currently staying in a Ronald McDonald house.

“The benefit of us being able to stay here is we are able to be close to the hospital and it keeps our family together and we don’t have to worry about paying for a room. It’s a wholesome, clean environment and he loves being able to play in the play room and drive the power wheels car. There is a dinner every night and always food in the pantry.. It would not be possible though without donors and volunteers though,” Eva, Brantley’s Mom said.

A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost. There are more than 365 Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the United States and world, with local chapters in 64 countries and regions.
