Camden Co. SO Communications Officer Awarded Life Saving Award

McMinn was able to talk an individual into sparing their life and secure the weapon prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor presented a Life Saving Award to Communications Officer Raven McMinn on Friday, January 8th, 2021.

Communications Officer McMinn was on duty in the 911 Center when she answered a 911 telephone call on December 30th, 2020 from a distressed individual that was going to commit suicide by using a handgun.  Communications Officer McMinn began to deescalate the situation by using her professional training, while showing a caring and compassionate attitude.  Communications Officer McMinn was able to talk the individual into sparing their life, and secure the weapon prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Sheriff Jim Proctor praised Raven’s actions by saying, “It is with great pleasure I present Raven McMinn with this life saving award.  The 911 Communications Officers never know what they will have to deal with when answering a call.  I applaud Raven for her actions which saved a person’s life.  I would also recognize the team work of the other working Communications Officers that kept the 911 Center operational while Raven assisted the distressed individual.”
