Senator Loeffler Urges Those Impacted by Recent Storms to Apply for Emergency Loans
U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced that Georgia farmers in 30 counties are eligible to apply for emergency assistance and loans after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) designated certain counties in Georgia as disaster areas due to recent storms.
“For months, our farmers and agriculture producers have been working overtime to provide food for American families,” Loeffler said. “At the same time, many suffered crop losses after a string of tornados, hail and excessive wind and rain swept through rural Georgia this spring. I am grateful Secretary Perdue has moved quickly to designate these counties as federal disaster areas, and I urge affected farmers to get in touch with their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office and utilize available USDA disaster programs. I will continue to do everything I can to support our farmers who work tirelessly to keep America fed and clothed.”
The counties designated as disaster areas include Wilcox, Ben Hill, Dodge, Pulaski, Turner, Crisp, Dooly, Telfair, Clinch, Lanier, Atkinson, Echols, Ware, Lowndes, Towns, Habersham, Rabun, Union, White, Brantley, Coffee, Bacon, Berrien, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Irwin, Jeff Davis, Pierce and Wayne. More information is available here.
In April, Loeffler wrote a letter to President Trump requesting that his administration issue a major disaster declaration for the state of Georgia in the wake of severe storms and tornados.
