Camden County Administrator, Steve Howard announced today that Mark Patrick, the County Engineer for the Newton County Board of Commissioners has been hired as the new Public Works Director for Camden County. In this role, Mr. Patrick will be responsible for duties to include, but not limited to: the maintenance, repair, and minor construction of the County transportation system, as well as, drainage maintenance and management.

Mr. Patrick has over 30 years of experience as an engineer including over a decade of experience in local government. In addition to his tenure in Newton County, Patrick served as the City Engineer for the City of Milledgeville, Georgia, and the Assistant Public Works Director for Athens-Clarke County. Previously, Patrick was self-employed as an engineer, concentrating on site development and subdivision plans.

“I am pleased to welcome Mark to Camden County and look forward to his leadership in the Public Works Department,” said County Administrator Steve Howard. “The county will benefit from his experience and knowledge as he leads our Public Works team.”
Mr. Patrick has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is registered in Georgia as both a Professional Engineer and a Land Surveyor.

He fills the vacancy from the retirement of former director Harvey Amerson. His new role will begin in Camden County on March 11, 2019.
