Rashad Wright Arrested in 2017 Murder of Daniel Gilliam

Today the Glynn County Police Department released this information to the public.

On June 21, 2018, the United States Marshals Service arrested 28-year-old Brunswick resident Rashad Wright on an outstanding warrant charging him with Murder. Wright was found inside a home in the 2800 block of Reynolds Street in Brunswick. The warrant stems from the April 2017 murder of Daniel Gilliam.

Wright had been on the run from authorities since the warrant was issued on June 8, 2018. The United States Marshals Service offered assistance in locating Wright after he went into hiding. Previously arrested in connection with Mr. Gilliam’s death were 39-year-old Don Earl Johnson Jr and 26-year-old Rahad Quayshawn Muhammad.

On April 12, 2017, at about 8:45 PM officers with the Glynn County Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 137 Simon Drive. Officers arrived to find 30-year-old Glynn County resident Daniel Gilliam with a gunshot wound to the chest. Unfortunately, Mr. Gilliam succumbed to his injuries. Glynn County Police Investigators worked countless hours collecting evidence, following up on leads, and interviewing people involved.

“I know that regardless of what we do, Mr. Gilliam’s life cannot be replaced, however, I am extremely pleased that the people responsible for his death are being brought to justice and Mr. Gilliam’s family and friends may have some closure”, said Chief John Powell at a June 8th press conference. “The Glynn County Police Department will work together with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, and use all available resources, to investigate violent crimes and bring those responsible to justice”, Powell said today.
