Suicide Investigation Ongoing at Georgia State Prison

The investigation is ongoing.

The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, Ga.

On July 26 at approximately 6:04 p.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Niqua Thomas (GDC #1000484572) unresponsive in his cell. Prison medical staff responded and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and at 6:32 p.m., Emergency Medical Services arrived and continued CPR. Thomas was pronounced deceased at 6:40 p.m. by the facility physician. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

Thomas was sentenced to 12 years in Dekalb County for armed robbery, with a maximum release date of April 2020.

    I would like to know why the GBI and the news media is not aware of this case. I would like to know why would a person committ suicide near the end of their term and not the beginning. I would like to know why this case is being held in the prison walls but not in the public eye. I would like to know why was it done.

      I don’t understand in the almost 30 minutes of waiting for ambulance was someone not trying CPR then.. doesn’t make sense
