The I-16/I-75 Interchange Improvement Project has hit a benchmark: it is now 25% complete. In addition, crews have finished construction related to mitigation efforts within the Pleasant Hill community. The Georgia DOT is scheduled to hand over maintenance of both Jefferson Long Park and Linear Park to the Macon-Bibb authorities at the end of October, 2018.
With regard to the region from Hardeman Avenue to the I-16 eastbound exit: on Monday, Sept. 17, crews will begin constructing a super-structure for the Riverside Drive bridge over I-75. They will continue working on footings for the Ocmulgee River bridge on I-16 westbound. They will also continue building retaining walls along I-75 both northbound and soundbound. None of the construction in this region should require any adjustment to traffic or lane closures.
With regard to the region including I-16 from the I-75/I-16 split to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard exit: crews will continue working on the substructure for the bridge along I-16 eastbound near Spring Street. They will also continue construction of retaining walls along I-16 eastbound between Spring Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard bridge over the Ocmulgee River. They will continue grading on the exit 2 on-ramp for I-16 eastbound and the Spring Street exit on-ramp for I-16 westbound. Construction in this region will require lane closures on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard northbound and southbound and utility crew work at night.
