The insurance company, Kaiser Permanente, has been rated as having the top health plan in Georgia by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

This is Kaiser’s 14th straight year being named Georgia’s top health plan, as reported by Georgia Health News.

Each health plan was rated on a scale of 1-to-5 with 5 being the best rating. Kaiser received a rating of a 4 among the private insurance plans. Following behind Kaiser was Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, Cigna, and United Healthcare – all plans scored a 3.5 out of 5.

NCQA rates health plans based on consumer satisfaction, prevention, and treatment. The ratings indicate the outcomes of medical care and what patients say about the services they received, according to NCQA.

Kaiser’s HMO plan was also rated high with a score of 4.5 and was followed by Aetna’s PPO and Sierra Health (a UnitedHealthcare plan) PPO, which all scored 4.0 scores.

Kaiser offers plans in 28 counties near the metro Atlanta area and counties near Athens, GA.
