Earlier this morning, an accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 41 and Manning Mill Road.
The accident involved two passenger vehicles and a school bus. The Bartow County EMS has confirmed one fatality at this time and are still working on the scene as one patient is entrapped in a vehicle.
According to Public Information Officer, Brad Cothran, the school bus did not have any children on it at the time of the accident.
The deadly crash happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. on GA 3 (U.S. 41) at Manning Mill Road in Adairsville. The initial report is that a silver Nissan Altima was stopped westbound on Manning Mill Road at a stop sign. A blue Mercury minivan was traveling northbound on GA 3 in the left lane. The Altima entered the intersection and attempted a left turn toward GA 3 southbound. The minivan hit the Altima’s driver-side with its front end. Immediately following the impact, the minivan rotated and struck the front of a Bartow County School bus with its right side.
Between the impacts, the rear passenger in the minivan was ejected and became trapped between the school bus and minivan.
The driver of the Altima, Chelsey Chapman, 20, of Adairsville, died at the scene of the accident. The three occupants in the minivan were transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
