Leader of a Legacy: Logan Blevins

The Trion Bulldogs opened the 2017 football season with a heartfelt tribute to long-time coach and fan favorite, Clarence Blevins. The ceremony was made even more special because the current roster includes all-purpose senior pack leader, Logan Blevins, Clarence Blevins’ grandson. The wrestling superstar is a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball and has made Friday nights at Sam R. McCain stadium a spectacle that cannot be missed.

Blevins 12 carries for 115 yards and 3 touchdowns paved the way for a Trion onslaught of 429 yards rushing in the season home-opener against Lafayette. Blevins powerful frame and bruising style make him a punishing runner capable of softening up linebackers and wearing down defenses. In addition, Blevins is the undisputed team leader on defense, anchoring his unit from the middle linebacker position. With a team-leading 13 tackles against Lafayette, Blevins helped hold the Ramblers to just 216 total yards of offense and only 11 first downs.

The 17 year-old senior has been a state ranked wrestler for the past three years and is a huge fan of Alabama and the Atlanta Falcons. His role model is his grandfather and he hopes to pursue a career in coaching. Blevins has been a team leader since he was a freshman saying his teammates, “believe in me and trust me to do my job.” He is currently being recruited by Florida Tech, Lenoir Rhyne and Maryville College and looks forward to taking his skills to the next level. He has played football for eleven years. One of the biggest highlights of Blevin’s career so far is beating Turner County last year.

When asked about playing on Clarence Blevins Field on Clarence Blevins Night, Logan commented, “It was extremely special, I was playing for him.” And so continues the Blevins tradition and legacy that is interwoven with Trion Football.

Blevins’ junior year stats rattle off as 655 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns, 88 tackles and two sacks on defense. Blevins is a physical player standing 5’11” and weighing in at 215 lbs.
