The Chattooga County Republican Party along with several elected officials and local business owners got together to show their appreciation for Chattooga’s County law enforcement. The group decided on purchasing a meal from Jefferson’s for each member of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, the Trion Police Department and the Summerville Police Department as well as the Menlo and Lyerly Security Guards. In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show law enforcement officers that citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all.
Sponsors of the meal included the Chattooga County GOP, Commissioner Jason Winters, Tax Commissioner candidate Rickey Hughes, School Board candidate John Agnew, State Court Solicitor/ candidate Sanford “Buddy” Hill, Georgia Senator Jeff Mullis, Representative Eddie Lumsden, and the Republican Party Secretary Betty Brady. Also Businessman C S “Steve” Baker contributed, and of course, Jefferson’s Restaurant and owner Patti Grindstaff donated and will prepare the meals.
“This is just one small way of showing support and appreciation for our men and women in law enforcement. Last year we marched to show our support; this year we provided an appreciation meal,” said Betty Brady.
