REPORT: Against Plea of Deputy, EMH Discharged Man Who Later Died in Officer-Involved Shooting

Evans County deputies responded to six calls involving Yassin Mohamed, the man who later died in an officer involved shooting. One of those calls included a transport to Evans Memorial Hospital where a deputy was reportedly told the man 'was not a candidate' for 1013 mental health treatment.

Video Sheds Light on Hours Leading Up to Officer-Involved Shooting in Evans County

Video from the dash camera of a Claxton Police Department patrol video shows the temperament and demeanor of a man who later died in an officer-involved shooting with an Evans County Sheriff’s deputy over the weekend. Public records obtained by AllOnGeorgia indicate that the man who died during the altercation was detained by law enforcement officials earlier in the evening, but was released instead of being booked at the Evans County jail.
