A robbery took place on Monday around 4:07 p.m. in St. Marys at the Heritage Bank located across from the Sonic on Spur-40.
St. Marys Police Department arrived on the scene and determined that the suspect was no longer on bank property. The police entered the bank and spoke with bank tellers about the incident.
The suspect was described as a 30-to-40-year-old “stocky” black male between 5’7 to 6’0 feet tall wearing a plain white tee-shirt, blue jeans, a navy blue and white trucker hat and aviator sunglasses, according to the police report.
The police report said that the suspect did not say anything to the bank tellers but gave a note that said “Give me the 100s and 50s. Me have a weapon. Don’t want anyone to get hurt.”
The bank teller complied and gave the desired bills to the suspect in an envelope and the suspect hastily left the bank.
Other bank tellers told officers that they had a previous encounter with the same suspect earlier that day. The tellers stated that the suspect, at that time, was looking around the bank patting down his pockets “acting like he was looking for something.”
At that time, the suspect looked at the tellers and said “Can’t find my card. I’ll come back” and then left the bank.
The police recovered video of the incident. The suspect has not been apprehended at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
