According to SPD, Labeitoaizizi Jawari King Jr was arrested in Swainsboro.

UPDATE 07/19/2022:

On 6/27/22 at 5:54 P.M., SPD officers responded to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for a 21 year old male being treated there for multiple gunshot wounds. The male was later transported to Memorial Health in Savannah where he underwent surgery and has since been released.

With the cooperation of the victim and victim’s family, detectives were able to develop probable cause and issue arrest warrants for Labeitoaizizi Jawari King Jr (21 years old). King is believed to travel between Statesboro and Swainsboro. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a June 27 shooting at University Place. The victim was transported to Memorial Health in Savannah and is in serious, but stable condition at this time.

On 6/27/22 at 5:54 P.M., SPD officers responded to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for a 21 year old male being treated there for multiple gunshot wounds. The male, whose name is being withheld at this time, was later transported to Memorial Health in Savannah where he underwent surgery and is in serious but stable condition as of the time of this release.

Detectives assigned to the case obtained search warrants for the scene of the assault, an apartment where the victim lived located on University Place in Statesboro. The shooting occurred inside of the residence. Crime scene techs processed the apartment for approximately six hours while other detectives conducted interviews and worked other leads.

At this point in the investigation detectives are hopeful that the victim will recover and be able to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information should contact Senior Detective Ben Purvis at 912-764-9911 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@statesboroga.gov.
