Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods

Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods will be visiting the campus of
LaFayette High School on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. His goal as
State School Superintendent is to make sure students are ready to learn, ready to
live, and ready to lead. He is focused on strengthening communications, fostering
meaningful collaboration, and supporting child-focused, classroom-centered
policies. The purpose of his visit is to hear from students, educators, and other
stakeholders to learn what is working, what changes can be made, and how the
Georgia Department of Education can be of service.

Members of the Student Government Association and the LaFayette High School
JROTC Rifle Team will greet Superintendent Woods upon his arrival. Principal Tracy
Hubbert will highlight a variety of successful Career Pathway Programs and their
importance for students and their future. He will also feature the positive use of a
service animal working closely with some of the students at LHS. Invited guests
include Senator Jeff Mullis, State Board of Education Member Larry Winter, State
Representative Steve Tarvin, and a host of locally elected officials.

“We invite you to join us for this visit and celebration of the amazing things
happening at LaFayette High School and throughout Walker County Schools.”
