With the assistance of Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators in the Fraud Unit at the Georgia Department of Insurance arrested April Nashonda Alston, 34, of Augusta, GA on Thursday night.
“This is another example of why you should not commit insurance fraud. Individuals who feel that they are above the law by taking advantage of consumers will be arrested and prosecuted,” said Insurance Commissioner Jim Beck.
Alston currently faces 7 counts of Insurance Fraud. She is accused of making fraudulent claims to her insurer stating that she was involved in various one and two-car accidents, several of which she had already allegedly received payment for damages to her vehicle.
Insurance fraud is a felony punishable by imprisonment for two to ten years, or by a fine of up to $10,000.00, or both.
