(Statesboro, Georgia) — As the race for Statesboro’s highest elected office continues, the Agape Worship Center (AWC) Youth Development Center is pleased to present the first mayoral forum of the election season. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Spring Hill Suites Conference Center, located at 105 Springhill Drive, Statesboro, GA 30458. We have invited and confirmed the attendance of all the qualified candidates: Jan Moore, Jonathan McCollar, and John Grotheer.
“With such a competitive field of candidates, it’s important to hear about their positions on the issues facing Statesboro,” says Donald Chavers, Pastor of Agape Worship Center. “The AWC Youth Development Center is thrilled to organize this forum and provide an opportunity for Statesboro residents and the greater Bulloch community to hear from the candidates about their vision for this city.”
All forum questions will be prepared and asked by three selected moderators, and they will ask questions based on submissions of the public and residents. The candidates will be questioned on many topics vital to the future of the City of Statesboro including: The Blue Mile, commercial redevelopment, public transportation, policing, affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and taxation to name a few.
“With a population of about 32,000, Statesboro is a diverse, educated, and engaged community with a keen interest in issues such as economic development and neighborhood revitalization,” says Pastor Chavers. “This forum will give residents the opportunity to hear first-hand from the candidates.”
The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 6:00 pm for a Meet & Greet reception.
